Poker Players Alliance
The Poker Players Alliance is a nonprofit Interest group that was established to uphold the rights of online poker and of online poker players. The alliance is there to represent poker players and to attempt to secure legislation that protects online poker, while making it known that online poker is not at all illegal. Their goal is to keep as many US Poker Rooms accepting people from USA as possible.
The PPA grew quickly after being formed in 2005. Over 600,000 poker players joined the alliance in its first year, showing how they value online poker and coming out against unfair legislation. Since its conception over one million members have joined the Alliance, spurred on by well-known PPA board members such as Greg Raymer, Howard Lederer and Chris Ferguson.
Their goal is to "establish favorable laws that provide poker players with a secure, safe and regulated place to play." Playing online poker is not against the law but government legislation such as the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act have made it challenging to play online poker in the United States, with many poker rooms deciding to stop welcoming US players. The PPA lobbies against this kind of legislation, terming it "egregious government intervention" and would rather see laws which will regulate online poker such that players have a safe environment in which to continue to play.
The more members the better, so if you're interested in spreading the word that poker is a lawful game of skill, and are passionate about the protection of online poker, then you should become a member of the Poker Players Alliance today. Simply go to https://theppa.org/join/ and fill in your details to let your voice be heard and lend a hand in this struggle against ill-informed legislation.
The Poker Players Alliance aims to "speak with one voice to promote poker, and to protect the players' rights". We should spread the word that online poker is legal and that there's no reason why that should change, and the PPA is how poker players can unite and hopefully see a better future for online poker.
